Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
Narratively though, the film wasn't as interesting as the first two and I felt like it all came down to the weak villain. Grimmel, voiced by F. Murray Abraham, was frustratingly one dimensional with by-the-numbers motivations that they genuinely could've done it entirely without him. Sure, they needed a threat, but he could've been written and executed a lot better. That said, nothing was lost in terms of appeal, luster and charm as the chemistry between Hiccup - who I thought was constantly (and impressively) evolving in every film - and Toothless was increasingly palpable with the final ten minutes incredibly emotional that it's what made this film for me.
How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was slightly underwhelming if taken as a whole, but there was something overwhelmingly fulfilling towards the end of the movie. I don't know what it was, but thank you, Toothless!
