One panel, TJ Roque, said it best, a performance of Mad World especially on American Idol will always be compared to Adam Lambert's showstopper. It's deemed inevitable, but Joey Cook's rendition was just as haunting and lovely. There were some interesting melodic choices thrown in her version, the performance aspect was well thought out, she was very focused and very connected and her vocals were sublime.
