Music Release: Drake - Signs "falls flat."

Drake, Signs

It seems like Drake is continuing that Caribbean theme on his singles. Signs, which apparently got a release in conjunction for the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer Fashion show on Thursday, officially had a single release the next day.

The single keeps its tropical vibe trend that he successfully inputs on Hotline Bling the current hit, Passion Fruit. It boasts a mellow production and a bouncy beat that could also pass as Drake's project tune for the Summer.

But despite its summer feel and an obvious ode to the current radio status quo, Signs falls flat in a lot of things. First, it is missing a memorable hook. And if it is following the solid showing from vocal and hook perspective that Passion Fruit has exhibited, Signs falls short. Second, the single is underwhelming and bland. It didn't add any texture or color to play with. It just stays plateaued through out. Lastly, the single isn't committed fully and written vaguely especially on a Drake standards.

In the end, Signs seems to be a throwaway effort from Drake's playbook of unreleased singles.
