Music Release: Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do "is a self-indulgent, lousy work."

Taylor Swift, Look What You Made Me Do

Taylor Swift has made a comeback and her brilliant PR ways will not fail to create hype and buzz. And rightfully so, her new single from her up and coming 6th album has generated curiosity that people has been talking about. From her social media black out to the occasional teaser post, Taylor and her team has done wonders to keep her on top of her game.

But...

Spell what happened...?

While no one is expecting something spectacular from Taylor Swift, Look What You Made Me Do seems to be a step back from the infectious bubblegum pop Shake It Off, more so from her brilliant showing in singles Style, New Romantics and I Knew You Were Trouble.

Look What You Made Me seems petty. The lyrics in particular is shallow, there is no sense of growth especially from a singer-songwriter like Taylor who happens to be winning Grammy's left and right. The sampling of "I'm Too Sexy" is in no way used creatively and the patterned single in Taylor's chorus is actually annoying.

The single itself is a self-indulgent, lousy work. It didn't allow Taylor to showcase any of her growth especially if there was a sign of it in her last work, I Don't Wanna Live Forever.

Look What You Made Me is a terrible start if this will be any indication of what her new album will be. It is a hard, angry, cheerless effort that seems to be consciously making her play the victim card. As usual. Yet, confusingly painted herself as a different, stronger and avenging character.

Taylor - whether you are a fan or not - undeniably produced, written and released singles that are brilliant, infectious and solid. But Look What You Made Me is tired without any bombastic vocals. Exhausting in terms of theme and lyrics as it somehow been a repetitive attitude and is simply an uninspired, poor effort.
