Movie Review: Here Comes The Bride

Achieved na achieved! Haha.

Seriously. Calling this film hilarious would be an understatement!! Who would've thought? Believe me, it was more than just a comedy film. Heck, I don't even know how to describe it. Ha.

On a superficial level, of course, the movie was beyond funny, but I thought that the storyline in itself was remarkably good and the script was on point.  I found the story to be well put together and it didn’t become unnecessarily difficult to follow. The direction was good as it managed to control things carefully with all that mixing up - it could have easily been an incoherent mess.

And while the movie wasn't the most original in terms of premise - I've seen a lot of soul-switching movies before - I thought that the film had a surprisingly refreshing take from the usual local flavor of comedy. Really. To me, this effort single-handedly proved that Filipino comedy can go beyond the tired slapstick humors we're all used to - most of the comedic punchlines here were quite intelligent.

Arguably though, it was really the five sensational lead performances that was where the success of this comedy resides. I mean, the sheer talent in the casting ensemble was overwhelming. John Lapus, Jaime Fabrigas, Tuesday Vargas and Eugene Domingo were a joy to watch. And then there was Angelica Panganiban, who's now quickly becoming one of my favorite local actresses. Everyone had equal exposure and they all provided excellent comedic flair.

If any fault was to be found in the film, it had to be the inconsistent editing and lighting. But that's just me nitpicking. So, whatever.

Definitely a MUST see Filipino film.
