Carly Rae Jepsen, Cut to the Feeling
If at first listen you will tell me that Cut to the Feeling is yet another single from Carly Rae Jepsen, I would have given you a look of disbelief as she can't be releasing yet another pop gem out of the blue.
Carly rose to fame because of that annoying yet catchy song named Call Me Maybe and since then, Carly has find it hard to deliver another hit making her one of those "One-Hit-Wonders". She took a little hiatus and came back two years ago with another infectious yet better single called I Really Like You that somehow gave a good glimpse that she is better than what made her famous.
Carly find it hard to break back in the pop market. She released Runaway with Me during the same year and somehow put Carly from being a one hit wonder to an underrated singer. Giving us one of the best pop single in recent years.
Two years after and looking back, Carly has managed to surprise us again by releasing a pop bop that from the opening verse alone could be a serious contender for an underrated summer hit.
Cut to the Feeling is a simple, hook friendly and infectious pop tune that is not giving us any sonic production nor revolutionary rhythmic beats, but wins in so many ways. It's flamboyant, feel good and a beautiful nod to the 80s vibe. The success of the single lies on the fact that it has 80s feels but not old fashion.
Do you agree with my thoughts about the song?
