Movie Review: Can We Still Be Friends?

While Can We Still Be Friends? was not as good as their first film together - which I admittedly adored - this was still a pretty entertaining romantic comedy film. I thought the magic and charisma, which was palpable before, was still delightfully intact, the acting was mostly improved, the chemistry was outstanding, and the first half was gloriously compelling. Unfortunately, things went south as soon as the second act started as the film wavered into the conceit of the premise. The narrative could've been much interesting if it was fleshed out even more, but it didn't and instead resorted to the usual trope of the genre. Can We Still Be Friends? wasn't a bad film. It was well shot, the actors were all capable, and it wasn't boring or inept. It's just that it didn't offer enough insight to the premise of the film with an ending that was annoyingly predictable - I had a feeling it would end the way it did - it's a Star Cinema film to begin with - but come on!
