Movie Review: Game Night

Silly, chaotic, but extremely hilarious. No, I wouldn't claim Game Night as a brilliant film - either as a comedy or a character study - but it was an assured movie that found its footing immediately and achieved a shocking level of sustenance throughout its entire running time. And yes, let's be honest, in a sea of unnecessary sequels and adaptations, this was a breath of fresh air. The concept was wonderfully clever, the screenplay was terrific, and the performances were on point. Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, in particular, brought real chemistry and impeccable comedic timing, while Jesse Plemons, who may look like a discount version of Matt Damon, was pretty fantastic as well. Game Night may not change your life - though it wasn't trying to be - but, for what it's worth, this was an entertainingly funny comedy romp.
