Music Release: Shawn Mendes - Lost In Japan "shows a more funky side of Mendes."
Artist: Shawn Mendes
Album: Shawn Mendes
In a not so surprising move, Shawn Mendes did a one-two punch treat for his fans and non-fans alike and released a second single from his up and coming untitled sophomore album.
Lost In Japan shows a more funky side from Mendes. It is a different route from his all too pop upbeat hit There's Nothing Holding Me Back nor his recently released Kings of Leon inspired In My Blood. Shawn is showing a diverse side of his music taste and he seems to want his followers to follow through.
Lost In Japan starts with just piano where the young heartthrob singer seems to be taking the Coldplay route but then 20 seconds after, Shawn hits the single in a funky vibe backtrack. It is a delicious treat as the singer's subdued vocals perfectly blends well with the beat that seems a song that is released by a combination of The Weeknd and Charlie Puth.
Shawn didn't validate himself with lots of falsetto nor over the top funky beats. He took a road where it is not too alienating but challenges himself to explore more of his artistry. In the end, Lost In Japan is a welcome treat; An eargasm you thought you don't need. It is an infectious pop tune that is radio friendly and undeniably well crafted.
