Music Release: Miley Cyrus - Inspired "takes her to a more serious route."

Looking back to her discography, Miley Cyrus has a wide catalog of music that ranges from one genre to another. She isn't afraid to take risk and explore the varieties of the music industry. The move is commendable albeit risky.

Her new single, Inspired, released during the Pride day celebration has a touch of country from its production. It's like Ms. Cyrus is going back to her roots and somehow is a good thing. Just like with Malibu, Miley toned it down in the verses - giving us a restraint, laid back feel before going into a crescendo that isn't even screaming power vocals. The affect on her high register is sharp but somehow worked.

Inspired is personal. It has a good tribute to the 80s and a familiar vibe without allowing it to sound dated. More so, Inspired is rooted and settled. It sounded like it wasn't just made to get a nod from music critics nor get an embrace from the 80s loyalists. Inspired has an intention but definitely something that is not asking for attention.

The simple production and relatable lyrics are what made Inspired work. Inspired is not compromised to what is common to radio now. If there is a down side about the single is that it is not a stand out in terms of when it was release. In a pool of summer tunes that and how the radio is build up of power dance tracks and EDM, Inspired will never get a chance but will solely rely on Miley Cyrus' star power.

Regardless, Inspired took Miley to a more serious route and her exploration of another side of the music away from her previous hits allows us to see growth as an artist and dedication from the once dubbed as a wild ex Nickelodeon star.
