Movie Review: Miss Granny

I went in skeptical, and came out perfectly charmed. I certainly had some reservations with Miss Granny given its premise, but the overall effect of the film was both hysterical and heartwarming. The narrative was brilliantly layered, most of the humor were perfectly placed and executed, and Sarah Geronimo. This was, to me, her best performance to date. Not only was she consistently funny and a complete hoot, but she also gave her character some great dynamics and dimensions. Nova Villa and Nonie Buencamino were also quite stellar. Sure, the clunky script, the problematic transitions, the questionable direction choices and even the awkward and sloppy production almost threatened the whole film to fall apart, but it kept thing together to make it work and just the sheer joy I had watching Miss Granny made up for it.
