Movie Review: Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

Not familiar with the source material - hence nostalgia will not in any way factor in to this review - and, to me, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark was okay at best. Sure, some of the imagery were really creepy and the Harold story in particular was profoundly disturbing, but the film just felt clunky with some inherently silly sequences that temporarily broke the tension of the film. The actors were also a mixed bag to me - some delivered decent performances, while others were just plain wooden. Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark will probably work best if you're familiar with the material prior to the movie because it just all felt meh. Sadly.
