American Idol 15: Auditions Part 3
If not only for the fact that this was the final season, I'd probably ranted a little more, but.. I will stop here.
On with the show!
House Of The Rising Star
Gianna, at least to me, came off as a less talented Haley Reinhart. I don't know if it's just the wavy hair or how she presented herself, but she has a particularly distinct sound with good control of her pitch. However, her phrasing was strangely choppy that somehow pulled me away from her audition. It was good, but nothing entirely memorable. 5.5
Isaac Cole
Love Like Crazy
Not a fan. The twang, like Harry mentioned, was very distracting. He's not particularly awful, but there's nothing to write home about the kid. Sorry. 4.5
Sarah Sturm
Lips Are Movin'
Ugh. What was up with these incredibly mediocre auditions?! Sarah pulled off her audition piece quite nicely, but she will NEVER be the one to bookend Kelly Clarkson's victory back in 2002. She's way too weak to create an impact to the competition. 5
Radioactive
No, her vocals weren't perfect - especially towards the end - but her version of Radioactive was "compelling" as Jennifer Lopez said. There was something about her that was oddly magnetic. I thought her tone sounded delicate yet powerful and there's a certain cry to her voice that's just lovely to hear. 7.5
Harrison Cohen
No Time
Decent. I thought the song was so much stronger than the voice and that's all I'm going to say. 5.5
Somebody Like You
Again, he's not spectacularly outstanding as a singer, but it bugged me how the judges, especially Harry, gave him a hard time getting the golden ticket when they easily put through some pretty lame singers before him. He has a strong instrument with an obvious training and that's already an advantage over the rest. So, what's good, Harry? 6
