Movie Review: Tomb Raider

Not going to lie, but this reboot of Tomb Raider wasn't that bad - in fact, I somehow preferred this reincarnation over both of Angelina Jolie's films, which was more iconic mostly for the incessant pouty lips, tight clothes and nothing else. Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft had an interesting mix of appearing strong and vulnerable all at once, which somehow made the character more human and intriguing. She seemed less bulletproof or impenetrable, but still had a good amount of ability and moxie. Visually, it had some exquisitely crafted set pieces, but it wasn't terribly immersive. The narrative was overwhelmingly basic and the movie dragged a bit when it resorted to a lot of expositions. Sure, this wasn't exactly an outstanding film - given how flawed it was from start to finish - but it was a fun and grounded reboot of Tomb Raider. Two Words: Alicia Vikander.
