Movie Review: A Wrinkle In Time

Too silly to be deep and too elaborate to be involving, A Wrinkle In Time was just a jumbled hot mess, and ultimately, a waste of time. Other than some pretty remarkable and striking visuals and the fine albeit inconsistent performance of Storm Reid, there was nothing particularly good to say about the film. It was visually ambitious, yes, but most of it didn't work, the narrative was so compressed and terribly messy that it pulled me out of the story entirely, and Deric McCabe who played Charles Wallace was just bad - and he was a pretty significant character. I don't really want to be too critical with young performers, but his portrayal didn't work for me. A Wrinkle In Time tried to do a lot of things, but didn't deliver on any. It was a disappointingly cheesy film that was hard to get through.
