The Voice US 14: Live Playoffs (Part 2) #TeamAlicia
One And Only
This was okay. A little better than his first Playoffs performance, but that's not saying much. I mean, he sounded like he was pushing too far off his range that it almost seemed strained. Maybe I'm just not a fan.
Take Me To Church
Almost a hot mess, but not quite. Look, Christian's ability to build dynamics to this performance was impressive, but everything else was just disappointing. Her grasp on pitch was terribly inconsistent, the timing seemed off, and there was something about the arrangement and her phrasing that made the performance sound choppy.
Ain't Nobody
That opening verse was just captivatingly magnetic. He took his time caressing every single note of the song and the way he phrased the words was gorgeous. There was something magical during those moments, and somehow he decided that it was best to revert back to something astoundingly karaoke. Sigh.
Need U Bad
Another sassy and soulful performance from Kelsea and it was all kinds of awesome. There was something about the texture of her voice, the brilliance of her phrasing, and riveting stage presence that made me want to think that she could be the real darkhorse of the season. This was just flat out terrific!
Alone
She badly needed a strong performance to stand out in a team this stacked, and this was it. How her vocals scaled the song with great power and insane range was pretty spectacular and she really did came for blood and didn't disappoint one bit. After Never Tear Us Apart and Alone, I think she's done enough to make it to next round. Right? Come on, Alicia!
