Movie Review: Skyscraper

Look, it's pretty foolish to expect a fine cinematic piece with Skyscraper. I mean, the story was painfully predictable and absurd, the writing felt like it was hastily thrown in by the writers out of obligation, Dwayne Johnson was laughably indestructible, and almost everything just didn't make sense, but since my standards were braced for the obvious shortcomings of any movie from this vein, I must say that I was appropriately entertained. I think films under this genre survive with just good visuals, intense action scenes, charismatic lead, and enough of a story line to hold them together.  And yes, the film managed to have just that. I found the visuals were carried off well throughout the film and the action sequences were non-stop intense if a bit ridiculous. Ha. Skyscraper was, admittedly, borderline dumb, but it's a movie that was meant to entertain. If you can allow yourself to dumb down enough to appreciate the general atmosphere of the movie, you may get something out of it.
