Movie Review: Widows

Widows was a truly fascinating film with a grounded actual premise for the heist. The performances from Viola Davis down to Cynthia Erivo were strong, the heist being not so elaborate and crazy made perfect sense given that they've never done it before, and some of the stylistic choices felt inspired. That being said, I was slightly bored watching the film. I don't know what it was that took me out of it, but parts felt slow while parts felt like thrown in together and seemed rushed. Sure, Widows had so much to say about gender politics, race relations, prejudice and whatnot, but it was a mixed bag for me. If not for the terrific performances and the exhilarating final act, this would've been terrible.
