Movie Review: The Favourite

I usually have this love-hate relationship with period piece dramas - as it tend to put me to sleep a lot of the time, strangely even well-celebrated ones - but there was something about The Favourite that was astonishingly riveting. The script was acerbic and wickedly funny, the characters was layered and complex, the cinematography was good, and the performances were superb. Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz, and Emma Stone were outstandingly terrific that their performances lifted the film to something special. Colman, particularly, was phenomenal. Yes, parts of the storyline fell a bit flat, but I digress. The Favourite was heartbreaking and captivating all at once and so much wilder and sharper than the average period dramas - or comedies? You mock me? Haha.
