Movie Review: Rocketman

Two words: Taron. Egerton.

Seriously. He was outstandingly sensational as Elton John in Rocketman that 'd be incredibly upset if he doesn't get nominated for his work here. The energy and intensity he brought here was just phenomenal that I was right there with him the entire time - I was happy when he was happy and I cried with him. Heck, I didn't expect to be so moved by him.

Yes, Rocketman still hit the beats of the familiar formula and trajectory for most of the musical biopics, but the film was actually clever enough to structure in a different way and adding a good amount of fantasy having actual musical numbers within the narrative. It was much more vibrant, the entire experience was visceral, and the music was brilliant. It had some pacing issues, but again, when you have Taron Egerton, who cares?

Rocketman just made Bohemian Rhapsody look like a mediocre piece of marketing - and I actually enjoyed the latter.
