Music Release: Kelly Clarkson - Love So Soft "finds a good mix of old and new."

Kelly Clarkson, Love So Soft

From the spitfire verses to a sassy, booming chorus, the soulful belter and inaugural American idol has done wonders in just one track. Yet again, she never disappoints.

Love So Soft, the lead single off her upcoming album, Meaning of Life, is one of the one-two punch promotional singles that were released today and it is glorious. Kelly Clarkson is just one of those vocalists that you can rely and she will deliver... with flying colors.

The track, which also signifies her new freedom and over all control to her music, doesn't really go away from what the audience have loved from Kelly, but it definitely showed touches of influences from the people she looked up to - Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey.

Love So Soft is a catchy single, albeit repetitive at some point. It works around some sass and power vocals here and there and the track doesn't settle on one note. It finds a good mix of old and new -- 90's influence; to the current status quo of pop music. The most undeniable is the soulful take that feels easy and effortless.

All in all, Love So Soft is a pretty good lead single. It is a tune that you would think someone like Christina Aguilera or Aretha Franklin should have done in their era but Kelly was able to sell it in her own era.
